Bears Safety Kevin Payne Traded to Rams

Chicago Bears safety Kevin Payne has been traded to the St.Louis Rams for an undisclosed draft pick in the 2011 NFL draft. Kevin Payne wanted out of Chicago after the Bears drafted Major Wright out of Florida and also traded for Chris Harris from the Panthers. Brian Biggs of the Tribune reported it on twitter and claimed Payne was going to be the odd man out.

#Bears have traded S Kevin Payne to the Rams for an undisclosed draft pick, likely a conditional pick. Payne was odd man out.

Payne wanted out of Chicago, instead of releasing him, Angelo found a way to get a future draft pick out of him. A surprisingly smart move via Jerry Angelo and crew.
