The Chicago Cubs announced today that starting pitcher Carlos Silva will be placed on the 15 day DL. Silva left Sunday’s game in Colorado after suffering an irregular heartbeat.

Silva will be replaced on the roster by starting pitcher Thomas Diamond, who has spent the entire year at AAA Iowa. Also joining the team today is starting pitcher Casey Coleman, who also spent the year in Iowa, and is expected to pitch out of the bullpen.

From the official Cubs release

The Chicago Cubs today selected the contracts of right-handed pitchers Casey Coleman and Thomas Diamond from Triple-A Iowa. Right-handed pitcher Carlos Silva was placed on the 15-day disabled list for cardiac evaluation.

Coleman will wear uniform number 27 and be available for tonight’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers at Wrigley Field. Diamond will wear uniform number 20 and is scheduled to start tomorrow’s game against the Brewers at Wrigley Field.
