Bears safety Major Wright has been fined $10,000 for his hit on Vikings QB Joe Webb. Even though it cost him $10,000 dollars, it was a very nice way to introduce a division rivals’ quarterback into the NFL. Welcome to the big leagues Joe!

Bears rookie safety Major Wright was fined $10,000 for leading with his helmet while tackling Vikings quarterback Joe Webb during Monday night’s 40-14 victory at TCF Bank Stadium, according to a league source.

Wright was flagged for unnecessary roughness on the fourth-quarter play. His penalty, along with one on Webb for a low block, nullified Brian Urlacher’s 59-yard interception return.

Although he’s a first-time offender, Wright still was fined more than Bears defensive end Julius Peppers, who was docked $5,000 for a hit on Matthew Stafford in a Week 1 win over the Lions.

Asked if he would consider appealing the fine, Wright said, “Why not? What do I have to lose?”

Apparently, $10,000.
