Chicago Bulls Win 50th Game of the Season in Blow-Out of the Kings

For the first time since the 1997-98 season, the Chicago Bulls have won 50 games in the regular season.

Derrick Rose and the Bulls avenged a loss last season in which the team blew a 35-point lead in the final two periods back when the Sacramento Kings visited the United Center one season ago.

Tonight,  there would be no let-downs.

The Kings’ 22 turnovers made this victory an easy one for Chicago.

Rose threw down a reverse jam in the first period on a steal and fast break touch-pass from Carlos Boozer.  Later on the the game, Rose threw down another dunk— this time off of an alley-oop pass by Keith Bogans.

There were many positive signs for the Bulls in the Monday night 132-92 walloping of Sacramento.  Chicago’s second unit looks like a completely different team from when the season started last November.  Ronnie Brewer is now fully recovered from the hamstring injury.  His explosiveness and activeness provides a big spark for the team of the bench.

Joakim Noah (14 points; 9 rebounds) drives past DeMarcus Cousins, of the Sacramento Kings, as the returning Carlos Boozer (16 points) looks on.

Eight players were in double-figures scoring on Monday night:

  • Rose – 18

  • Korver – 18

  • Deng – 17

  • Boozer – 16

  • Bogans – 15

  • Noah – 14

  • Asik – 14

  • Watson – 11

The banged-up Rose, Deng, Boozer, Noah and Taj Gibson were all able to rest for extra minutes on Monday night due to the Bulls’ stellar bench-play.

Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen were still on the team the last time the Bulls won 50 games over the course of the regular season, which happened to be the final year of the championship title reigns for the franchise.

Derrick Rose and company still have 13 games left to play as they continue to steam-roll through opponents.  Chicago has won 16 of their last 19 games, and are currently knotted with the Boston Celtics at 50-19 atop of the Eastern Conference standings.
