The Sox lost 2/3 from the Royals and took 2/2 from the Indians. the Royals series was awful.
The Sox were able to continue playing well vs. the Indians by taking 2/2. Gavin Floyd surrendered 0 ER and struck out 5 over 7.2 innings and Edwin Jackson pitched 6 innings giving up 2 ER. the bullpen continued to be nearly perfect, going unscored upon and El Matador earned a save in both wins, needing only 1 inning to earn 2 saves.
The hitting got the job done scoring 3 in the first game and 4 in the second. In game one Carlos Quentin was the offense with a 3-R-HR. in game 2 the Indians supplied most of the Sox offense with 3 errors which lead to 2 runs for the Sox. Carlos went 4/9 and the rest of the team was OK in the hitting department
Dayan Viciedo removed in 6th inning
Dayan Viciedo was removed from the AAA lineup during the 6th inning of Saturday’s game causing rumors that the Sox have called up the 22 year old outfielder. In fact Viciedo was removed because of aggravating his thumb injury an injury caused after he broke his thumb during spring training. Viciedo was 1/3 with a walk before being replaced by Gookie Dawkins. Ozzie restated that if Viciedo was called up it would be to play every day.
Also, Ozzie said he drew up a plan to call up Viciedo after being so upset with the offense and called Kenny Williams with the plan.
Colby Rasmus to Sox?
It appears that rumors of a possible deal between the Sox and Cardinals for outfielder Colby Rasmus have been renewed according to Joe Strauss, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. It is rumored that the Cardinals may be interested in Edwin Jackson or Matt Thornton. The Sox were rumored to be interested in acquiring Rasmus during the offseason. Rasmus,24, is hitting .241 with 9 homers and 36 RBIs.
Humber to Pen
Ozzie Guillen has announced that Phil Humber will be moved to the bullpen because of Saturday’s rainout. Oz said the move would be temporary, “I think Humber needs a little bit of a break, that’s the only reason we’re doing it.” Humber continued to keep his spirits up stating, “I’m good with it, whatever they want me to do, I’ve said all along, when they give me the ball, I’ll do the best I can with it.”
The move is expected to last until the start of the Boston series.
