Kings Shut Out Blackhawks 2-0

Jonathan Quick earns his league-leading 5th shutout as the Los Angeles Kings defeat the Chicago Blackhawks 2-0 ending their 5-game home winning streak. Blackhawks have been shutout at home for the first time since April 3rd against Tampa Bay.

A couple of power plays for each team and several quality chances wasn’t enough to break the scoring in the first period.

But it wasn’t until Trent Hunter knocked in his second goal of the season mid-second period after a scramble in front of Corey Crawford that put the Kings up 1-0.

Corey Crawford came up big on a couple of odd man rushes and defensive turnovers that kept the score within reach including a penalty shot on Mike Richards. (Fun fact: Crawford is now 5-for-5 on penalty shots in his career.)

Los Angeles went up 2-0 when Jarrett Stoll quickly poked home a goal to start off the third period and that would seal the victory.

It was a goaltenders battle between Corey Crawford and Jonathan Quick as they both put on tremendous performances tonight. Crawford played one of his best games of the season stopping 36 of 38 shots, unfortunately, the Blackhawks couldn’t score award him with some offensive support.
