Putting it in Cruise Control in the Motor City

‘When I was there, they took good care of me, and I was pretty sure they would do the same for him, I told him that would be a nice spot for him and a nice fit." -Ben Wallace on Richard Hamilton signing with the Bulls

The Chicago Bulls head off to Detroit to face Pistons for the first of two meetings this season. Reserve point guard and key contributor,  CJ Watson, is still out as he recovers from a strained elbow. Richard Hamilton was cleared to play in the Bulls matchup in Auburn Hills. after missing the last two games with a sore groin. Hamilton played nine seasons for the Pistons before the Bulls signed him just three weeks ago.

Rose finished with 17pts and 10 asts

At this venture of the season, the Bulls were in need of some good luck with health, as they try to build stability and momentum in the lineup. Late in the 4th Quarter, Derrick Rose fell hard on his left arm, and even the few Detroit fans left in the crowd, stopped and gasped. He rolled on his back and held his left elbow. Rose is right handed, although he ball-handles mostly with his left hand.

It was a close one, as Rose sat on the bench with trainers, only to come back into the game and show that he was fine. MVP closed off the night with a double-double.

Unlike the poor output against Atlanta, the Bulls looked to establish early in this one. Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah have been facing heavy criticism for their play together on the court, and you could see a lot of improvements between the two, for being just one game later. Boozer finished with 19 points, 7 boards, and a hungry 3 steals. Noah had a good night on the glass, scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds, but he was still trying to thread the needle with his passing, committing 5 turnovers.

The Bulls were far from playing their best ball, but they were fortunate enough to face a team that is facing a rebuild. Bulls win tonight.

After the game, ex-Bull and longtime Piston, Ben Wallace, commented on Richard Hamilton’s decision to sign with the Bulls, saying nothing but good things about the organization and his time here. He also rolled his eyes slightly when being told that Rip was allowed to wear his headband, and said politely, “Good for him.”

The Bulls advance to 6-1 and beat Detroit 99-83.

Next Game: Friday the Bulls are at Orlando in a 7:00PM tip-off.
