Bulls over T’Wolves: Rose and Rubio on Display

The Ricky  Rubio show is just starting to heat up, in a much anticipated matchup between two point guards with considerably unorthodox point guard styles. The Minnesota Timberwolves, a franchise that has the longest post-season drought in the NBA, has shown some glimmer of hope this season by making some tough games into close loses, will face the Chicago Bulls in the middle of their only tripleback this season.

The Bulls dominated this game, while still playing down to their opponent. Derrick Rose was on a scoring tear, and T’Wolves All-Star Forward, Kevin Love, was a a buss door on defense. Love and company did get hot in those last two minutes, where the T’Wolves went on a 22-2 run to bring Minn within 6 points at the half.

The momentum in the second half was almost a carbon copy of the first. The Bulls came out big early and let Minnesota in at the end, as they were only 6 points behind yet again. Derrick took over as closer, and made sure the efforts didn’t go to waste, as the Bulls finish 111-100 in a 2nd game in 3 days.

Rubio has less flashy passes than usual, but he ended up with 13 points, 12 assists and 4 steals in an impressive all-around game. Rose and Rubio had nothing but compliments for each other in the post-game. Rose saying enthusiastically, “Rubio played one hell of a game” and Rubio saying, “Maybe he’s one of the best, if not the best, player I’ve ever played against.” The two teams will not face each other again until next season.

Rose led all scores with 31 and 11 dimes, Luol had a solid game overall scoring 21 and nabbing 11 boards. Korver went 3-3 from 3 to lead the bench with 13.

The Bulls defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves 111-100 to move to 9-2 for the year.

Next Game: Tomorrow (Wednesday) Washington Wizards visit the Bulls. The game starts at 7:00PM
