Ray Emery Strong, But Blackhawks Fall 3-1 In Anaheim

    • February 26, 2012

The Chicago Blackhawks fall to the Anaheim Ducks by a final score of 3-1. Chicago has now lost their last 3 straight games.

Patrick Kane notched his 14th goal of the season a little over 11 minutes into the opening period on the power play snapping an 0-for-39 drought. It was the Blackhawks’ first power play goal since January 14th against Nashville.

Andrew Cogliano knocked in a late goal with seconds winding down in the first period. The goal was initially waved off by the referees as they suspected that Cogliano had kicked it in. The play was reviewed for an extremely long time and the call ended up being reversed tying the game at 1.

Sheldon Brookbank scored the lone goal in the second period for the Ducks giving them a 2-1 lead, and Teemu Selanne added a power play goal early in the third period that sealed a 3-1 Ducks victory.

Anaheim (38) doubled Chicago’s shot total (19) in the game, and outshot the Blackhawks 26-9 in the final 40 minutes of play.

Ray Emery looked really sharp every since the puck dropped; he faced 38 shots total and was credited with 35 saves on the night.

Dylan Olsen and Viktor Stalberg both led the Blackhawks in hits with 3, while Patrick Kane led the team with 2 takeaways.

Chicago sits at 6th place in the Western Conference less than 15 hours away from the NHL trade deadline. Time is ticking for Stan Bowman…

    WHAT’S NEXT?
After a quick 2-game weekend road trip in California, the Blackhawks travel back to Chicago as they welcome in the Toronto Maple Leafs for the first time this season on Wednesday night; puck drop at 7:00pm CT!
