Video Game Roundup Vol. 3

  • by J.I. Baird
  • September 15, 2012

New Games

- Madden NFL 13 is new and improved from previous installments, but the review scores stayed the same. Metacritic users gave it a 5.8 score on the 360 and a 4.9 on the PS3, while the the 360 got a 82/100 Metascore and PS3 got a 83/100 Metascore. Not very eye popping numbers to make a casual fan want to jump on the title. Scores aside, the gameplay is much more realistic this year with a new physics engine. Also, interceptions happen more frequently than they did in previous Madden games. A lot of people complained about lack of franchise mode, but it’s still in the game hidden under Connected Careers mode.

- The other game in this roundup received much more favorable scores from users. Transformers: Fall of Cybertron received an 8.4 Metacritic score on the 360, while the PS3 received a 7.9. The Metascores were 80 for the 360, and 78 for the PS3. If you played War for Cybertron, you probably understand the gist of the game. The game is a basic third-person shooter, with the ability to transform in a vehicle obviously since this is Transformers. The multiplayer is strong again but lacking in number of users and the story campaign is fairly long. Transformers fans will want to pick this up if they haven’t already.

News & Rumors

  • Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes was announced a while back by Hideo Kojima. The game is open world and features Big Boss/Naked Snake as the protagonist.
  • Contrary to the last volume of the Roundup, Final Fantasy versus XIII is NOT dead after all.
  • Things look bleak for Skyrim players on the PS3. In unsurprising news, Bethesda seems to have trouble getting the DLC Dawnguard to even run on the system. Two DLC packs have already been released for 360 owners, while PS3 owners continue to wait.
  • The WiiU will be released on November 18 and will have two different models: A $299.99 model that is 8 GB’s and white, and a black, 32 GB deluxe model at $349.99.
  • Microsoft recently registered domains for Halo 7, 8, and 9.
