The Chicago Bears continue to add more names to the coaching staff.  The Bears hired Mel Tucker as their defensive coordinator Friday evening. Tucker previously has been a defensive coordinator was the Browns (2008) and the Jaguars (2009-2012). He also coached many college defenses before his time in the NFL.

The Bears also added Matt Cavanaugh as their quarterbacks coach Friday morning. Cavanaugh previously held the same position with the Jets. He played 13 seasons in the NFL as a quarterback. This is Cavanaugh’s second time on the Bears’ coaching staff.  During his first tenure in Chicago, he was the offensive coordinator (1997-1998).

The Bears also announced today Marc Trestman will bring two of his assistants from Montreal with him. Andy Bischoff will be the tight ends coach, while Michael Sinclair will be the assistant defensive line coach. Both Bischoff and Sinclair have been assistant coaches in Montreal for the past five seasons. Bischoff coached special teams and running backs, while Sinclair coached the defensive line. Sinclair played in the NFL for 11 seasons (1991-2002), and made the Pro Bowl three times during his career.
