Predicting the Divisions, Playoffs and the World Series Champion

    • by waldo
    • February 22, 2013

With the regular season right around the corner and spring training games starting this weekend, I thought it will be a good time to predict how the 2013 season will play out. Here goes nothing:

    AL East:
    1) Toronto Blue Jays: 96-66
    2) New York Yankees: 93-69
    3) Boston Red Sox: 87-75
    4) Tampa Bay Rays: 84-78
    5) Baltimore Orioles: 81-81

    AL Central:
    1) Detroit Tigers: 90-72
    2) Cleveland Indians: 82-80
    3) Chicago White Sox: 81-81
    4) Kansas City Royals: 77-85
    5) Minnesota Twins: 69-93

    AL West:
    1) Los Angeles Angels: 103-59
    2) Texas Rangers: 95-67
    3) Oakland Athletics: 82-80
    4) Seattle Mariners: 67-95
    5) Houston Astros: 57-105

    NL East:
    1) Atlanta Braves: 100-62
    2) Washington Nationals: 90-72
    3) Philadelphia Phillies: 84-78
    4) New York Mets: 76-86
    5) Miami Marlins: 57-105

    NL Central:
    1) Cincinnati Reds: 89-73
    2) St. Louis Cardinals: 86-76
    3) Milwaukee Brewers: 84-78
    4) Pittsburgh Pirates: 81-81
    5) Chicago Cubs: 78-84

    NL West:
    1) Los Angeles Dodgers: 92-70
    2) San Francisco Giants: 88-74
    3) San Diego Padres: 79-83
    4) Colorado Rockies: 75-87
    5) Arizona Diamondbacks: 73-89

**The Miami Marlins and the Houston Astros will compete for the #1 pick in next year’s draft.**

**I have the Chicago Cubs last because I expect them to trade quite a few trades and then their stats will go down. If they didn’t make any trades, I could see them competing as the NL Central is weak.**

    1-game wild card match-up – AL
*Texas Rangers over the New York Yankees.

    1-game wild card match-up – NL
*Washington Nationals over the San Francisco Giants.

    Division series – AL
*Los Angeles Angels over the Detroit Tigers.
*Toronto Blue Jays over the Texas Rangers.

    Division series – NL
*Atlanta Braves over the Cincinnati Reds.
*Los Angeles Dodgers over the Washington Nationals.

    Conference series – AL
*Los Angeles Angels over the Toronto Blue Jays.

    Conference series – NL
*Atlanta Braves over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

    World Series:
*Los Angeles Angels over the Atlanta Braves.

Your 2013 World Series Champion will be the Los Angeles Angels!

I'm going to JJC to become a police officer, I will get my Associate's degree after this semester. Then next semester I may go to Lewis Unniversity to finish my Bachlor's degree. I write for my beloved Cubs because I like too and it's fun. Go Cubs!

      Nationals deserve more love…FINALLY

The Blue Jays? Please. Getting three good starters means they now have three. They don’t have the defense, and they don’t have the hitting. They have as much chance of winning the AL East as Wrigley Field has of Vidal Sassoon hiring Michael Jordan and Bobby Hull as print ad models.

The Angels? Winning 103? In that division? No. They might win it, but they won’t win 103. And you’re probably counting on Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton to turn back the clock a little. They won’t and so the Angels won’t be winning the Pennant.

The Braves? Not winning the NL East. This is not the 1990s. They won’t even make the Playoffs.

The Dodgers? Not winning the NL West. They have big names, but they don’t have big gamers.

If I had to guess on the Series now… and put aside my home-team bias… Tigers over Reds. Being Chicagoans, I think you’ll agree that Dusty Baker is a good regular-season manager, but he’s never won a Series and never will.

Sorry about the error: I was going to say “Wrigley Field has of being featured in Scientific American,” then I went for a cheaper laugh on Jordan’s and Hull’s hair, and forgot to proofread.

Yeah, I can’t see the Tigers and Reds in the WS. Their be the 2 worse records in their league going in the playoffs and their in the worse divisions.

I love the Nats pitching, but I’m not a fan of their offense. Who knows what’s gunna happen with Gio Gonzalez. My guess? Nothing, but you never know. The Braves have a better offense and their pitching isn’t bad either.

I love the Blue Jays … especially in the AL East. The Yanks are getting older, but still have fire power. I think the Red Sox did okay and will win games. The Rays lost a great pitcher and a good OF. The O’s was a fluke last year, but will still have a better season that usual.

The Blue Jays have Bautista, Reyes, Cabrera, Encarnacion had a good season and I think Maicer Izturis is overaated. I love their rotation of Dickey, Morrow, Buehrle, JJ and Romero. Good 1-5. Romero is one of the best 5th starters in the league and could be a 3 on a lot of other teams.

The Nats do deserve love and I do give it to them, but I like the Braves a little more.

The WS champ is a matter of the roll of the dice? Do you really think the best two teams got into the WS last year? Or the year before? (Well Texas was really pretty good–OK). Do you really believe the best teams always wins it? It’s a matter that a team is playing the best at that time. If a team is very good and consistently makes the playoffs that team has a better chance of eventually winning the WS than a team that just happened to win 105 games and makes it one year.

You’re correct. So, honestly it’s hard to tell who will make the world series and win. If depends on what team is going into the playoffs playing the best and it also depends on injuries substained by teamns.

      These are pretty bad, Waldo.

I 100% disagree. It’s called an opinion and this is what I think.
