Hawks get revenge on Avs; Win 5-2

A little over a week ago, the Colorado Avalanche dominated the Hawks and ended the record breaking point streak and win streak. The Blackhawks returned to the Pepsi Center Monday night looking for a little revenge and that is exactly what they got.

The Hawks dominated the game from the start. After a Colorado turnover, Patrick Kane found Jimmy Hayes in front of the net for his first goal of the season. Moments later, Andrew Shaw put the Hawks up two. But with under a minute left in the first, Brent Seabrook got beat shorthanded and Landeskog beat Emery stick side. The Hawks lead 2-1 after one. But Marian Hossa suffered an injury late and would not return.

The second period was the same story for Hawks. Kane got the period started with a goal from a sharp angle. Then Seabrook was able to put one home on a sweet setup from Kane. Unfortunately, the Avs were able to score another late goal. 4-2 at the end of the second. The third period was completely dominated by the Hawks. They held the Avs to just three shots all period. Jonathan Toews added some insurance for the Hawks late in the third. Hawks won 5-2

Hossa’s injury appears to not be serious. Coach Joel Quenneville said after the game that Hossa is “not bad,” considers him to be day-to-day. There is a chance Hossa could play Wednesday night in Anaheim, but more about his status will be determined tomorrow.
