Ray Emery continues to make things difficult for Joel Quenneville earning his third shutout in the last five games as the Blackhawks go on to defeat the Minnesota Wild by a final score of 1-0.

Patrick Sharp returned to the lineup after missing the last 14 games with a shoulder injury and he may have re-aggravated it.

Late in the third period, Sharp took a check that sent him into the boards shoulders first and was seen wincing on the bench following the hit. Sharp did not take another shift after that, but following the game, Coach Q called it “a stinger.” By the talks of it, it doesn’t seem too serious and there’s no word on whether or not Sharp will miss any time.

Marian Hossa registered the only point in the game potting an unassisted goal late in the second period that gave Chicago the only goal they needed to secure the victory.

Emery and the Hawks’ defense shut the door in the third holding Minnesota to just six shots along with a total of 11 blocked shots in the game.

Emery stopped all 20 shots he faced and ultimately improved his record to 15-1-0 on the season.

The Hawks’ power play finished 0-for-2 tonight and have now failed to convert on 21 of their last 22 power plays. Their penalty kill was perfect once again killing off just one penalty in the game.

WHAT’S NEXT?
The Blackhawks will get the next three days off before they return to action Friday night against the Red Wings at the United Center; puck drop at 7:30pm CT!
