Henry played his first two years of college ball for the Fighting Illini.

CHICAGO- In a series of ongoing roster moves for the DePaul Blue Demons men’s basketball team, the most recent move adds to the program instead of subtracting from it.

Last weekend former Illinois guard/forward Myke Henry announced that he would be leaving Urbana and transferring to DePaul. According to the Chicago Tribune, Henry made the announcement on his twitter page. Both universities have yet to confirm or deny the announcement.

It’s a pretty safe bet though that the news is true if it’s coming directly from the player. In any event, the 6-6, 230 pound swingman will be a huge boost to Oliver Purnell’s team.

If he is allowed to play right away, he will most likely fill the void left behind by Moses Morgan. Morgan was one of five DePaul players who transferred within the last couple of months.

The 20-year-old may have only averaged 3.2 points and 2.1 rebounds during his time at Illinois, but perhaps a change of scenery could be what Henry needs to finally break out and show his full potential.

With a roster already stocked with productive players, Henry was only able to grab roughly 10 minutes per game with the Illini. His size, wingspan and jump shot will be of great use for Oliver Purnell.

He will also be a nice compliment for DePaul forwards Cleveland Melvin and Jamee Crockett. His ability to play guard will bring much needed depth to the Blue Demons backcourt.
