The White Sox have been busy in the trades as of late. With Hector Santiago heading to the Angels and the acquisition of Adam Eaton just last week, we look at another big change.

The Southsiders have acquired third baseman Matt Davidson from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for pitcher Addison Reed.

While filling third base was a necessary fix-up, I’m personally sad to see 24-year-old Addison Reed go. Nothing got the fans at U.S. Cellular Field up and roaring like his 9th inning Kid Rock entry music—even while in the depths of the 2013 losing streak. He had 40 saves last year, fifth best among American League closers.

The 22-year-old Davidson will be a solid addition and is said to go right in to the starting in-field ranks if all goes well in training. He comes to us from AAA Reno and was named MVP of Major League Baseball’s All-Star Futures Game after hitting a go-ahead, two-run home run. The young third baseman batted .280 (124-443) with 32 doubles, 17 home runs, 74 RBI, a .350 on-base percentage and .481 slugging percentage in 115 games.

Sox fans, what are your thoughts on all these changes? Are you excited for the 2014 season? Anyone going to Sox Fest at the Palmer House?
