Bears long snapper Patrick Mannelly retires

The question to whether or not Patrick Mannelly would return to the Chicago Bears this season has been answered. According to Brad Biggs, Mannelly will officially announce his retirement today.

He left this message on Twitter to confirm it.

The long snapper played 16 seasons in the NFL, all with the Bears. The 39-year-old was a key piece to the Bears success on special teams over the years and was the longest tenured current Bear on the roster. Mannelly’s 245 games played for the Bears are the most in team history, a record that will be tough to beat.
