Derrick Rose donates to local charity

It’s no secret that Derrick Rose loves his hometown of Chicago. He was blessed with the opportunity to play for the Bulls after coming out in the 2008 NBA Draft.

Now Rose continues to give back to his hometown.

Rose donated $1 million to the local non-profit After School Matters that helps Chicago teenagers find activities outside of school. The program is helpful in keeping students off of Chicago’s dangerous streets in some neighborhoods. Rose himself came from the Chicago neighborhood Englewood.

The funds will be used to help grow the programs bigger according to a press release.

Rose will step onto the court for the Bulls this season after tearing his ACL in 2012 and then missing the majority of last season with a knee injury.
