Chicago Fire’s Shaun Maloney named MLS Player of the Week

It was a pretty impressive week for Chicago Fire midfielder Shaun Maloney. The 32-year-old was named the MLS Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters.

Maloney recorded a goal and assist in the Fire’s 3-2 win over Toronto FC on Saturday. The assist gave the Fire a early 14th minute lead vs. Toronto and his goal in the 54th minute tied the game for the Fire. But that wasn’t it for Maloney as he also scored in Scotland’s 6-1 victory against Gibraltar in UEFA EURO 2016 qualifying earlier in the week.

Here’s a postgame video of Maloney after the Fire’s win over Toronto provided by the Fire:

The Fire return to action Saturday, April 18 as they take on the Montreal Impact at Stade Saputo.
