Breaking: Derrick Rose to have surgery on left eye

The first Chicago Bulls practice of the Fred Hoiberg area will go down as one to remember.

Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose took an elbow to the left eye during practice and had to be taken to Rush University Medical Center. The Bulls have since announced that Rose will have surgery on the eye and a timetable for his return will be determined.

Bulls Guard Derrick Rose was struck in the face by an elbow during today’s practice. He was taken by the Bulls medical staff to Rush University Medical Center for testing and evaluation which determined he sustained a left orbital fracture. After consultation with several specialists, it has been determined that he will require a surgical procedure, which will take place tomorrow at Rush. After the procedure, a timetable for return to play will be determined.

It’s more bad luck for Rose who suffered a few injuries last season.
