Goalie Battle Ends in SO Loss for IceHogs 2-1

It was a battle of the Goalies last night in Rockford. Rockford’s Michael Leighton and Charlotte’s Drew MacIntyre were both in top form, stopping everything hit their way. It wasn’t until 13:48 in the 3rd period that someone could break through the brick walls. Charlotte’s Derek Ryan managed to get by Leighton, putting the Checkers on the board. Five minutes later, IceHogs’ forward, Ryan Hartman, tied the game up. Sudden Death Overtime expired with the game still tied, sending the teams to a Shootout.  Rockford was unable to score during the Shootout, while Charlotte’s T.J. Hensick scored the winning goal for the Checkers.

The Stars of the Game reflected the goalie battle, naming MacIntyre & Leighton #1 & #2 Stars respectively. Checker’s Derek Ryan rounded it out as the #3 Star.

The IceHogs next home game is this coming Friday, October 30th @ 7:00pm. After the game, kids are invited to Treat or Treat with the IceHogs.
