The IceHogs hosted the Grand Rapids Griffins last night in Rockford and the evening did not end in the Hogs’ favor. The IceHogs appeared somewhat tired and running low on energy at time, while the Griffins seemed to have energy to spare. While Friday night’s game had a extremely low number of penalties called, Saturday night’s game started out with the Referee calling penalties every other minute. There was a total of 9 infractions called in the first period alone. Referee, Jarrod Ragusin, appeared to put his whistle away and only called another 3 penalties during the 2nd & 3rd periods total.
It was also the annual Teddy Bear Toss Night at the BMO Harris Bank Center and the fans came through again with several thousand cute stuffed furry critters. The stuffed animals were began raining down onto the ice at 15:53 into the 1st period when Jeremy Morin scored Rockford’s only goal of the game. An approximate total of 2287 stuffed animals were donated by the fans last night. The stuffed toys will be used by local hospitals and charities.
Next home game isn’t until December 21 in Rockford. Opening Ceremonies start at 7pm.
