Patrick Kane has made history.

The 27-year-old Kane became the first American-born (‘Merica!) player to win the Hart Trophy as the NHL’s MVP for the 2015-16 season. Going into the NHL Awards show, many thought Kane would win with the race being close.

But in the end, it was a landslide.

Kane received 1395 votes to beat out Pittsburgh’s Sidney Crosby (800 points) to win the award. The winger tallied 106 points, which was 17 more than the second place finisher in the league. Kane finished with 46 goals and 60 assists on the season as he appeared in all 82 games for the Blackhawks.

He was also named the winner of the Ted Lindsay Award as the NHLPA’s most valuable player and received the Art Ross trophy for leading the league in scoring.

Kane is the first Blackhawks player to win the award since Stan Mikita did so in 1968. His teammate, Artemi Panarin, was named the NHL’s Rookie of the Year earlier in the evening.
