Chicago Cubs hire David Ross to Front Office

Just hours before the 2017 Chicago Cubs Convention kicks off, the team announced a move from the baseball-operations perspective.

The Cubs announced that former catcher David Ross has been hired as the role of special assistant to baseball operations. Ross retired after the Cubs won the World Series in 2016.

The new role includes some work with major league development, scouting, baseball operations and more:

“In his new role with the organization, Ross will contribute to all elements within the club’s baseball operations department, including major league operations, player development, pro scouting and work within the front office. He will also assist in evaluating amateur players leading up to the draft among additional responsibilities and opportunities throughout the year.”

The 39-year-old enjoyed a 15-year MLB career as he won World Series titles with both the Cubs and Boston Red Sox.
