The Chicago Cubs just finished a rain-shortened 10 game home stand, going X-X at the friendly confines of Wrigley Field.
Now Chicago is off to the West Coast for a six-game trip beginning with a series in Los Angeles against the Dodgers on Friday. Following the three-game set, they will take on the Padres in San Diego.
The last road trip the Cubs went on ended with a series loss to the St. Louis Cardinals, so a good showing on the West Coast would be nice.
When the Cubs getaway after Thursday’s game with the Giants, they are doing it in style.
Manager Joe Maddon is holding another themed road trip for the team and this time it’s a classic movie. The Cubs will do their best news anchor impressions with a themed trip from the movie.
According to Maddon via Patrick Mooney of CSN Chicago:
“It’s theRon Burgundy/Brick Tamland – and I also wanted to include Tommy La Stella – Tribute Road Trip, where 60 percent of the time, it works every time, sponsored by Sex Panther cologne.”
The Tommy La Stella insert is in reference to him looking like Brick Tamland, a character on the movie portrayed by Steve Carell.
As for the outfits… well take a look:
