Jordan Brand unveils Air Jordan 3 “Katrina” release date, photos and more

The Air Jordan 3 is one of most iconic shoes in the Michael Jordan signature line and was released in 1988. Over the years, we’ve seen several colorways surface and this year the shoe is celebrating the 30th anniversary.

Now Jordan Brand is bringing back an exclusive colorway as they are giving back to the city of New Orleans.

The Air Jordan 3 “Katrina” model was unveiled for charity in 2006 after Hurricane Katrina devastated the city of New Orleans and the Gulf Coast in 2005. The colorway was actually first worn back in 2003 as a Player Exclusive for Derek Anderson as the Red/White colorway.

It was then part of a special package of Air Jordan shoes donated by Jordan Brand with proceeds going to Hurricane Katrina relief fund. 13 years later it will finally see a public release.

Jordan Brand announced on Friday that the “Katrina” colorway will officially release on May 12th as part of a global drop. To celebrate the release, the Jordan Wings program is teaming up with educational partners in New Orleans to award 10 scholarships to graduating High School seniors. It’s another way that Jordan Brand is giving back to the community.

The shoe will retail at $190 and will be available via the SNKRS app and at select retailers across the country.
