What to do with Lu

28 year old, two-time all-star and 9-year Bulls vet is in the final year of his contract.  Luol has been an integral part of the Bulls organization and success during the past several years.  Coach Thibodeau calls him the “glue” of the team, and he is widely recognized as one of the premier perimeter defenders in the league.  He did not sign an extension with the Bulls so is set to become a free agent follo ...

The Return is Coming, Just be Patient

As the Bulls prepare for their rubber match with the Heat this evening, one question remains on every Chicagoan’s mind.  When is Derrick Rose coming back?   The Bulls have managed to maintain reasonable play during the absence of the 2010-2011 MVP, but competing for a run at the Eastern Conference Finals is not what the fans want.  The fans want a seventh ring.  We want to see Derrick lead his city to ...

Exciting Second Half of the Season awaits

As we rapidly approach the All-Star Break, and return of the Chicagoan messiah, the Bulls are standing firmly in third place in the Eastern Conference at 28-17 behind the New York Knicks and who else but the Miami Heat. Especially of late, the Bulls have looked great.  Winning eight of the last ten games the Bulls grind it out style of play seems to work for them. With the Thibodeau coached Bulls, you know ...

Derrick Rose Ranked #5 by ESPN’s NBA Rank

For the second summer, ESPN has released a ranking of all the players in the NBA 500 through 1.  Last year, Derrick Rose was rated the 8th best player in the league, and this year, he has improved his rating to number 5. At first, 5 seemed a bit high to me.  Coming off a down season for Derrick Rose standards, 22 and 8 are certainly not bad stats, but don’t compare to those of his MVP season of 2011.  I was ...

What Now? The Bulls Without Derrick Rose

With a minute and a half remaining the first game of the Bulls, 76ers playoff series, Derrick Rose drove into the lane and landed badly on his left knee.  After immediately stumbling to the ground, the city of Chicago collectively gasped as they watched the young superstar writhe on the floor. His chronic injuries this season culminated with a torn ACL.  Derrick Rose will be out for 6-9 months and the Chica ...

Bulls vs 76ers: First Round Playoff Preview

The Playoffs are upon us.  Finally.  At the end of the shortened season, the Bulls find themselves the number one team in the league with home court advantage throughout the playoffs for the second straight year. Despite a series of injuries to Derrick Rose (missed 27 games), Luol Deng and other players, the Bulls finished the season with a league high 50 wins, which calculates to a .758 winning percentage, ...

Bulls Pacers Preview

In the final of three meetings this regular season, the Bulls (48-16) will travel to Indianapolis to face the Pacers (42-23).  After having clinched the number one seed in the Eastern Conference, the Bulls look to finish the regular season strongly against the Pacers who have locked in the number three seed in the East. The Pacers have been on tear lately winning 8 of their previous ten games and have been ...

Bulls rout Magic in Thibodeau’s 100th career win

What a perfect way to sum up Tom Thibodeau’s career. Now, the fastest coach to 100 wins, I don’t think much could make Thibs happier.  With Derrick Rose out of the lineup, the Bulls (38-10) held the Orlando Magic to 59 points, a franchise best for opponent points per game. But of course, as Thibs said in his post game press conference, “I’m just happy with the win.” Carlos Boozer led the team to victory ton ...

No D Rose? No problem

Coach Thibodeau has to be happy about this one. This was a statement game for the Bulls (36-9) as MVP, Derrick Rose sat out with a groin injury and Richard Hamilton was out with his shoulder injury.  Minus the two starters, the Bulls snuck a win in against their Eastern Conference rival, Heat (31-11).  John Lucas III stepped up big time to push the Bulls past the Heat, in a tight one that ended 106-102. Aft ...

Preview: Bulls vs. Bucks

After dominating against the Indiana Pacers, the Chicago Bulls (32-8, 15-6 away) now find themselves up against a lesser Central-Division opponent. The Bulls look to extend their winning streak to eight games against the Milwaukee Bucks (15-23, 9-8 home) who have only won two of their past seven.  In their last matchup, on February 22, Joakim Noah recorded his first ever triple-double en route to a 110-91 w ...
