Wow, that was a terrible trade for the Astros. Happ's been good but he doesn't have that great of stuff. And the prospects they received are Michael Bourn ver.2 and a young Theriot-like shortstop.

I'm looking forward to them sucking the next 5 years or so since they already have the worst system in the majors.

11M of 23M left on Oswalt contract.

Astros get:
P JA Happ
OF Anthony Gose
SS Jonathan Villar

The Rangers are also close to acquring 3B Jorge Cantu with the Marlins paying most of Cantu's contract.

If anything, this trade was just really questionable on the Phillies part. And you're just not going to get a whole lot for a soon to be 33 year old whose making 47 mil between this year through 2012, if the Phils pick up the option.

The Phills are expected to buyout his contract. The Astros had a 2M buyout on the option year but the Phills had to up it to 3M. In 2012, they are expected to buy him out for 3M.

No, it was a mutual option and:
If one side picks up the option, the other doesn't: $2M (previously $1M)
If he leaves on his own: Remains at $2M

I just read that somewere. The only thing I know, is Oswalt will get 3M in 2012 from the Phills.
