I dont see him dropping past 15. Dropping to the 2nd rd??? Not a chance.

he'd probably go to the cowboys. And would be the better Jenkins right out of draft day

I would have no problem with him, as long as he loves football more than he loves marijuana.

Matt Bowen supports the theory (via Twitter):

WR, DE, LT and CB. Still see Bears targeting D-Line at No. 19. RT @ThatTrash: @MattBowen41 #Bears biggest needs in draft?
Honestly, i really dont want anything to do with another DT. I think Melton and Paea are the future. Melton is ready now; paea still needs more time, but thats why we have Adams/BigToe. Now them good DE's on the other hand....

I'd jizz my pants if we got Barron.

Please, god. Just say no to Whitney Mercilus. He's absolutely terrible in the run stopping game. Mark Anderson v2.0.

Since when do we need our DE's to stop in the run game? In the Cover-2, the DE's are used almost exclusively for pass rush, and we can bring in Idonije on running downs. Idonije is a good run stopper, but only a decent pass rusher.

Oh, boy, misinformation is fun!

Yeah, we TOTALLY want our DEs flying straight upfield taking themselves out of any/all run plays.

/sarcasm

Of course our DE's key job is to rush the passer...but why do you think Mark Anderson is playing hybrid OLB/DE for the Patriots right now?! Because he's incapable of recognizing the run (and also because Vince Wilfork is an unstoppable force at the nose tackle...making him that much more playable in the Pats system).

Whitney Mercilus is Mark Anderson 2.0

Quote:
Pass rush: Very active and plays with top effort on every snap. Moves all around the defensive line, lining up off the edge and inside at defensive tackle. Has the natural speed to win the edge and closes in a flash. Attacks gaps and is a pesky rusher, finding ways to squirm into the backfield. Hard player to block cleanly. Plays with a fighting mentality and has the violent hand usage to battle through the trash and make the play. Hustle player with a nonstop motor. Tends to play high and doesn?t worry much about technique or fundamentals. Still developing his snap anticipation and will jump offsides at times.

Run defense: Lacks an obvious power element to his game and struggles to shed blocks on run plays. Doesn?t consistently set the edge and will over run his responsibilities. Still developing his recognition skills and instincts. Struggles to consistently locate the ball and will get caught out of position at times.
Sound familiar? "Doesn't worry about technique or fundamentals"..."Lacks obvious power element to his game and struggles to shed blocks on run plays."

You can also forget about him lining up at DT. He weighs 265 tops. Stat hoarders don't fit in a Marinelli system. You must be able to rush the passer. All fine and dandy...but you also must "maintain your assignment" (how many times have we heard Marinelli say this over the years?) You can get away with pure speed in college. But when you get to the pro's you must possess a power element as well...

Wash all the Mercilus rumors outta your head. No way we take a DE that doesn't play fundamentally. A high motor is fine. It's also an overused cliche. I'd rather have a fundamentally sound player across from Peppers than someone who doesn't care about technique and just tries to get upfield at all costs. Teams are already going to run away from Peppers side, and plugging Mercilus opposite is just going to open a huge lane off left guard.
