Avery Johnson

He was behind me talking to Popeye Jones. I heard his distinct voice and turned and looked and there he was. I waited until we got across the street (was crossing at the time) and called out "AVERY" to him. He responded "That's me". I reached out to shake his hand he shook it. He was very cool and spoke with me and my classmates for a very brief second (long enough for me to tell them who he was). I told them "I hope they play well tonight, but not too well", he laughed and said "You guys look good" (referring to the Bulls), and that was it.

We let them get in front of us and I proceeded to go into Neiman Marcus to pay too much forsome really nice French cologne.

Anyway, that's my story. Just though I'd share.

Avery Johnson once referred to Chicago as a cold midwestern city after they neglected to go after him as a head coach.

That was the end of me liking him.

Pretty much with me too, but it would've been an asshole thing to say to him, so I was polite and cordial.

One thing though, it was busy as hell on the Mag Mile and I heard him above everyone else. He was just that loud. Oh and he is not much taller than me.

Yeah i remember cockroach face Johnson saying how Chicago wasnt a desirable team/city for a head coaching job. WRONG! He does seem like he would be a cool guy in person though.

He was very nice to me and my friends and wasn't a jerk at all.
