It would be sick to see Howard on our team but I really dont see Orlando trading him. We could give them a good deal imo but who knows if they would actually accept it.

Let me ask you something. Howard might be in more commercials than any other player. Does he really seem like he'd rather be in Orlando instead of a major market? The guy seems to crave attention and it wouldnt surprise me at all if he feels like he's outgrown Orlando.

Regarding giving Orlando something they would accept. Part of what's driving this is Howard. Its kind of the same scenario as Denver and Carmelo Anthony. I can see Howard wanting to either come to Chicago or LA, to be perfectly honest with you. On one hand, Howard could be the man in LA after Kobe retires. But on the other hand, he could win more titles playing with Rose who's 22. Both teams have a productive post player to offer. LA can offer Gasol and Chicago can offer both Boozer and Asik. Chicago also has draft picks.

Chicago not being fleeced by Denver, has set a precedent for Orlando in terms of asking for something over the top. Chicago is in a position to reasonaly make them whole and then some though.

Thats true. But I would be curious to see if Howard does what Anthony does and actually puts it out there and says he wants to play here or there. I could see it happening but the Magic can be the opposite of Denver and be like no we wont do it and wait and see what happens in free agency(Which would be dumb I know but who knows they could do that)

If Orlando waits to see what happens like Cleveland did with LeBron, they could lose him for nothing and still have Arenas' and Turkoglu's contracts. With those contracts, to me, it makes sense that they would try to field a winning team after the trade since theyre stuck with two really bad contracts most likely.

That guy, like Noah, plays winning basketball. He does a lot of dirty work too and can score. The only thing is, we might still need an upgrade at the 2 with Horford.

So with that, Atlanta would look something like this:

PG - Hinrich
SG - Johnson
SF - Smith
PF - Boozer
C - Pachuglia
Horford is not Howard, but he's still a 2-time all star. He's legit and still young. Asik and Boozer STILL might not get it done, unless Horford gives Atlanta that ultimatum.

And yeah, we need a 2.

I really dont see them doing what I said but I'm trying to just say in general you cant scratch off the idea that they wait and see what happens. The main thing is to see what Dwight does and says and maybe he'll lean toward Chicago and then of course of hopefully even if he doesnt say anything to start figuring out a trade for him.

Well lets be honest too. Howard is a bit of a knucklehead while Horford is anything but. Id rather have Howard if we can get him without gutting our roster (meaning Id give up something along the lines of what Ive previously mentioned), but Horford also has a lot of appeal. As you said, he can play, plus he might fit in better with the team. With Howard, you'd always have to worry about him popping off in some way thats contrary to the makeup of the team.

What you said is possible. I would guess Orlando would try to push the issue with him, behind the scenes or otherwise, and depending on what Howard does, Orlando will be forced to act. If Orlando goes into this offseason and approaches him about a new contract and Howard is non-commital (even if he doesnt decline), Orlando will hear warning sirens going off that maybe they should trade him.

Wow, all of this talk is making me realize the importance of beating Atlanta if we face them in the 2nd round. It would be nice to make Horford want to go to a better situation than what he has and beating them in a meaningful series can kind of create that perception. There are other factors in play too though.

Since theyre most likely stuck with those contracts, they might as well try to win. Its kind of hard to be half pregnant and the idea of rebuilding makes sense if you aren't saddled with burdensome contracts.
I agree with you Lex, they are saddled with crap contracts. I just think that those crap contracts are for crap players. meaning I don't think a team of Turk and Agent 0 can do anything, with or without boozer. And even if they could be decent, what will they be? At best some bazarro version of the Hawks. If that. The only way they get anywhere, is through the lottery. At least, thats the only true way to bounce back after losing a star. Especially when he's leaving (we assume) regardless of if they trade him or via free agency.
