I have always been a fan of Rip and he's had a great career.. its almost the end of his playing days..PaxGar are fools if they are depending on him the be the guy from 4 5 and 6 years ago.....is not Rips fault, but the guy has more wear and tear than a hookers snatch...But its a good thing for now that he's here especially if we do sign Smith..Rip would be a great mentor the Smith could gain a lot of knowledge from. He may retire before his contracts over and J.R Smith can help him do just that. Ill be happy for Rip when he gets his golfclubs out.....he's earned it. And I'm not saying Thibbs is at Phil Jacksons level, but he has the smarts and potential to be one of the greats in coaching history.. Taming J.R Smith could put Thibbs in the coaching hall of fame. LoL Coaches aside, there is somthing in the United Center that neither New Orleans or Denver had. Championship banners, Jordan Pippen jerseys hanging, The best fans in the NBA, and the spirit of some of the most sucessful and greatest moments in NBA history.....Being in that kind of an enviroment on a consistant basis can work wonders to your mental motivation of what to strive for.....Plus Pip could give him some pointers..he's always around.....Plus a partner like Derrick Rose by his side... JR Smith can't be that stupid to fuck up that kind of opportunity.... A guy that can take back the amount of money he did out of China is pretty dam smart and good for the U.S.A. BTW, I'm not familiar with all the ins and outs of the new CBA. How much could the Bulls afford to pay JR Smith for this year?

![]() Considering that J.R already received a payday of a lifetime from China, I could see him accepting less to win a championship with the Bulls on a shorterm contract to be renegotiated later on if the shoe fits... Last edited by scottiepippen1994; 02-05-2012 at 12:53 AM. |

But neither was Rodman...There couldn't possibly be anyone with more of an opposite personality as Dennis Rodman was compared to Jordan and the reat of the bulls team when he first arrived. But he toned it down a little to a reasonable level.. He didn't however, tone it down all the way and i don't expect JR to turn into an alter boy...I don't even want him to...He just needs to tone it down a little bit to a reasonable level which I'm sure he will...The funnny thing is, when compared to Rodman, Smith doesn't have near as much craziness to tone down at all..That's why I don't understand some peoples shit fit, paranoia, and hate toward the idea of JR Smith being a Bull..Its silly and overblown out of proportion. At least Smith hasn't changed his name like Artest changed his to Mecca World Peace...If you guys want someone insane, call the Lakers and ask for the Mecca man...LoL Some of the people that post on Bulls messageboards are ten times crazier than J.R Smith..

We aren't signing JR Smith. Let the Clippers ruin their chemistry by adding all these headcases. Thats fine with me.
Clippers set sights on signing J.R. Smith - latimes.com JR Smith isn't the answer to any of our problems. Hey, remember that time we traded Tyson Chandler to the Hornets? Yeah, guess who one of the players was that we received in return? Oh yeah, that's right... JR Smith. And we traded him six days after the fact. Look, let's stop pretending like he's going to genuinely going to improve this team. We can't afford him compared to what other teams can offer him, so unless he's completely serious about winning, he's going to go elsewhere. I don't see him taking a prorated veterans minimum contract. Besides, there's no sense in risking our team's chemistry and potentially damaging our strongest assets (defense, depth) to add a guy who, quite frankly, wasn't welcomed the last time he was here. This team, when healthy, is good enough to beat Miami, and anyone else in the NBA. We're the deepest team with fantastic complimentary players in Noah, Deng and Boozer, a great arena, and even greater fans. JR Smith doesn't increase those chances. Look how well CJ Watson and Kyle Korver have played of late. Any extra time given should be for Jimmy Butler. He looked great against the Knicks and, quite frankly, shut down Carmelo in the fourth quarter. With more reps, he's only going to improve. So... the "too long, didn't read version" goes as follows -- Fuck JR Smith, play Jimmy Butler. Go Bulls.

J.R. Smith is not the answer. We have Richard Hamilton, Kyle Korver, Ronnie Brewer, and C.J. Watson who all are capable of playing that position and move off of the ball. The Bulls should be more invested to trying to convince Wilson Chandler to come here or just stick with the team they have now.
If Chandler agreed to come to Chicago, that would give the Bulls a dependable back-up SF and a back-up SG to even use alongside Deng. And it would Deng easily expendable to send away in a Dwight Howard trade. Imagine: Howard, Asik Boozer, Gibson Chandler, Brewer Hamilton, Korver Rose, Watson
