deng is a significantly better asset than hinrich

his contract isn't that bad for what he does. 18ppg, great off ball movement, rebounds, great midrange jumper, and he's still 24.
he's a decent scoring option, his talents aren't properly utilized on this team.
he's a good man defender. he cant stay infront of his guy.
he's a significantly better rebounder.

hinrich is/was terrible. he's no longer on the team, so i have no problem bashing him. he sucks. (i'm sorry clonetrooper.) Suggesting that we traded the wrong guy, is up there with we should have kept nocioni.

The only reason that moving Deng might have been better is the question of whether he can play on the same team as LeBron. If we don't get LeBron, or if we feel Deng can play a fair bit of PF, then as a player I'd rather have Deng for sure.

Hinrich as an expiring next year is an interesting scenario though, so I can see the logic of holding on to him for another year. I just don't think we could have moved Deng for pure cap space.

I think Hinrich makes sense for the Wizards in a similar role he had with Rose. A rookie PG will probably be bad defensively, get a vet defender next to him who is proven to be someone who will work with your young guy and isn't going to have ego issues. Sure he's overpaid, but with two years left they can use him as an expiring next year. I don't think they're as dumb as people are making out.

Kirk is a better assest. Thats why he was moved, thats why he will be more valuable next year. No one wants to pay Deng 4/50.

Moving him and moving him for pure cap space like they've done with Hinrich are two different things. I'm sure they can move Deng, it's just a matter of what else we have to give and/or what else we take back.
