Default Rumors Keep Rollin' In

Rumors Keep Rollin’ In

Quote:
As the non-waiver trade deadline approaches…here come the rumors!

*Carlos Pena is gaining interest from teams. Pirates and D’backs are said to have the most interest.

*Bruce Levine has not heard of the possible interest from the Pirates.

*With Arams Ramirez’s latest hot streak, he’s also gaining a lot of interest. The Angels have the most interest and expect to make a big play for him. Also, the Giants, Pirates, Braves and Yankees have interest in Ramirez. The Braves on the edge because when Chipper returns, Ramirez has no spot.

*If made available, Matt Garza will attract interest. Most notably the Red Sox and Yankees. There are reports that he will be made available to see what Hendry can get for him. But Bruce Levine says Garza will not be traded.

*The Giants have interest in Koyie Hill. C’mon Hendry! If this is true, Hill should be gone by now.

*The Cubs would like to trade Alfonso Soriano. A trade does not have to be completed by the 31st, could drag on through August. Could be a Derrek Lee like trade.

*The Cubs will not trade Sean Marshall. He’s labled as untouchable.

*According to Gordon Wittnymer, the Cubs will not trade any starting pitcher.

*The Rangers could have interest in Carlos Zambrano if the Cubs are willing to eat some salary.

*Kerry Wood’s faith is in his own hands, it’ll be up to hi if he wants to be traded or not. He will attract interest.

*The Yanks’ could have interest in John Grabow. The Yanks have been scouting the Cubs and want a lefty specialist for their bullpen.

Other Notes:

*According to Levine, Brett Jackson could be the starting CF by August 1st (depends on what trades are made).

*There’s a chance Aramis Ramirez will be back next year but Kosuke Fukudome will not.

*The Cubs promoted OF Brett Jackson and U Ryan Flaherty to Triple A, OF Matt Szczur to High A Daytona and OF Jae-Hoon Ha to Double A.

*According to Bruce Miles, we could see Brett Jackson, DJ LeMahieu and/or Ryan Flaherty in Chicago this season. But it all depends on what trades the Cubs make.

*If the Cubs offered Ryne Sandberg a managerial spot, he may accept. Sandberg did not downplay that he would decline the job.

That’s all for now but expect more soon as the deadline is about 3 weeks away.
Here we go!

Find it funny that he said we may see Jackson, LeMahieu and/or Flaherty this season.

We've ALREADY seen LeMahieu, Jackson WILL be up, and Flaherty will most likely be up as a call-up... odd that he'd say may and have an or.

Really the Cubs top OF prospect would get the call if they traded one of their OF. Why are you wasting your amazing ability to read the future on the Cubs, Bruce Levine, when there are so many unsolved murders?

Way to step out on a limb there Bruce. The Cubs best prospects at AAA could play in Chicago this season depending on what trades are made. Can I get tomorrow's lottery numbers while you are at Bruce?*

Sandberg would take one of 30 possible managerial jobs when he has said all along that is what he wants to do at this point in his life? Stop the presses.

*I actually like Bruce Miles as a reporter, and enjoy reading his articles about the Cubs more than just about any other writer in Chicago.

I'm pretty sure Levine stated this during his weekly chat in response to a question about Jackson's timeline. While obvious, he wasn't pretending to be breaking a story.

So why put the date on it. Why not just say that Jackson will get called up when the Cubs trade one of their big money OF?
