Default Soriano is willing to waive his no trade clause

But what GM in their right mind would take on his salary? The answer: none.

Cubs’ Alfonso Soriano says he’s open to waiving no-trade rights

several AL teams may be interested if the Cubs pay half his salary. Not sure it's worth it, but if we go to full-rebuild mode, I'd be willing to pay $20M over the next 3+ years to see him not here.

Absolutely, if the Cubs continue the youth movement and don't plan on bringing in a big name player then why not I suppose.

I would not doubt Hendry takes some calls on him..

That's probably the most that'll happen now though.

The issue is how much are we going to have to pay. Soriano making 4 or 5 million a year is actually a valuable piece. I don't know if Ricketts is willing to pay the 42 million it would take to bring his price tag to that level, and I don't know if teams are actually willing to give up anything with Soriano at that price tag. If you have to pay Soriano the money and not get anything, you are better off keeping him on the team. Just don't be afraid to use him properly.

I don't know if the Cubs could replace his defense in left field.
