I certainly wouldn't extend him mid season.

Are you nuts? He is already terrible at defense and it's only going to get worse. Aramis is terribly injury prone as well, I'd hold off giving him a 3 year extension.

According to Bruce Levine the Cubs will try to trade him this winter, although it will be tough with him having a no trade clause but Cubs would be happy about playing Blake DeWitt at 3B and signing a stopgap for 2B (Orlando Hudson?).

God next season is going to be even more depressing.

Yeah I would consider it in like August or something if he is doing well, but as bad as he was this season there isn't a shot I would give him an extension right now.

Unless it was like 3 years at 3 million per.

Then I probably would.

I just threw up in my mouth. Classic Hendry nonsense.

If you think that is Hendry's nonsense you are crazy. Why would a guy fighting for his life be trying to trade their best hitter coming off a terrible season?

This is pretty obviously either A) made up or B) coming from above him to cut costs.

Or C) They don't feel the need to keep an unmotivated player around a rebuilding team.

Lex said in the first post, that Ramirez was not too happy about rebuilding.... i don't blame him but we've all seen what a careless Ramirez can do, and it's brutal.

C) That's not true, we weren't shopping him until this year.

D) Your logic makes no sense.
He wasn't hitting that great last year except for a month or so and everything i hear is he doesn't like to go out ot the cages and work on his swing he has to realize that he is 31 i think, he is going to start losing some bat speed and he has to realize he has to work hard to keep his play at the level it has been for awhile. He was also a defensive liability last year he was one of the highest in the NL with errors at his position out of starters. Now while it could have just been an off year for him it is still a little distrubing to see him take a complete nose dive like he did.

Now while i don't think Hendry is great at his job he isn't bad i mean since the year they had made the world series what was that 1949 the cubs made the playoffs twice (pretty bad). since Hendry took over which was like late 90s 2000s region they cubs have been to playoffs three to four times that is pretty good increase from what it was. He also has not made to many bad signings either obviously Bradley was a major screw up every GM has one of them. Soriano he has produced excpet for last year when he was battling injury all year except for the first two months and he was on pace to have a really good year. Ted Lilly that was a great signing. Kevin Gregg wasn't great but he could have been a whole lot worse. Made the Derrick Lee signing. He also made the Aram trade go.
