The question is, how much will they cost, what time frame are they willing to sign for, and would the Cubs even consider it?

Well lets piece through the Cubs rotation as is right now. You have three guys virtually assured a rotation spot in Garza, Dempster, and Wood (given that he is the centerpiece of a deal for Sean Marshall I think it is safe to assume he is being penciled in somewhere). You have question marks in Carlos Zambrano, Andrew Cashner, Randy Wells, Jeff Smardzija, Casey Coleman, and some others stashed away in Iowa last year. It seems likely to be me that the Cubs are done adding pitchers unless they find a taker for Zambrano. The Cubs are willing to eat money to get something for Zambrano, but I doubt they are willing to just cut him at this point. So my guess is that Maholm and Jeff Francis (latest rumor to pop up regarding the Cubs and pitchers) are out given that the Cubs got their left hander in Travis Wood (really didn't think Thed Hoystein would be hung up on having a lefty starter, but it seemed like every pitcher the Cubs were attached to except for Darvish was a lefty).
