Taking his repeated offseason criticism of his former manager even further, pitcher Jake Peavy wondered "who quit on who" during an interview Saturday on WSCR-AM 670.

It's no secret Peavy and Ozzie Guillen didn't end the season as friends, especially after Guillen was left out of a decision to shut down the $16-million pitcher after Sept. 6.

During a Tribune interview in December, Peavy said Guillen's departure "needed to happen, for both sides. … Things needed to change with the way we did things. We're all to blame. It wasn't just Ozzie."

Saturday, he said, "I know he had a hard time, saying I quit on him, which couldn't be further from the truth," Peavy said. "I would never quit on a team. … Ozzie didn't finish the season with us the last (two) games. So I don't know who quit on who."

The tension between Peavy and Guillen started well before the decision of general manager Ken Williams and pitching coach Don Cooper to shut down the starter. Guillen wasn't in on the matter — perhaps signaling his subsequent move to the Marlins — and was clearly upset.

"At the end of the day, Ozzie didn't really know what goes on, (about the decision)" Peavy said.

Agreed. If a player is willing to go this far, then a big number of players on the team feel a lot more strongly than that.

divided clubhouse?

mark buehrle, sergio santos, CQ, frasor, omar etc could have been on one side and some of the others could have been against him. we will never know what happened behind closed doors.

It's like an episode of Jersey shore. Who cares?

Sure, Ozzie is a douche, but the last person I want to hear from about the Sox locker room is the biggest douche of all, Jake Peavy.

God damn, I wish this baseball season was already over.

Didn't Vizquel say something regarding the locker room being a mess or something sometime during the last few weeks of the season?

Something I'll have to look up.

I would have to believe Peavy. Ozzie is a headcase and a first-class asshole. I hope Peavy can give the Sox some quality starts this year.

I'm glad Peavy came out to say this, a lot of people I know don't think Ozzie is a jerk and I wish they would realize it so maybe hearing it from a big name player will help
