I don't think I would have cared if Kerry Wood had left the Cubs, but the contract that brought him back was fair to both the team and the player. It wasn't like Wood was being paid like Ryan Madson.

For what he's being paid and what he's being asked to do, in the context of the rest of the team's potential suckitude this coming season, it's really not that big of a deal.

no, i get that. I just find it a bit odd that he wouldnt want to obtain a championship run with a contender.

Wood is a classy guy, but the man has passed up chances to compete for a WS title instead choosing a team that may finish behind the Pirates.
