However, their line up is incredibly good, and their bullpen is solid, although expect Valverde to regress a bit. So, even if Porcello gets lit up for 5 runs through 5 but they hold the lead because of their offense, their bullpen should hold them down. Although, if their bullpen is over worked because starters are getting yanked then maybe the bullpen will collapse (see: 2009 Sox).

Again, not saying Detroit doesn't win the division, but nothing is set in stone.
Depending on what you want, maybe you guys should start hoping that the Cubs can trade Matt Garza to Detroit for prospects then

The rotation is okay. Its not the 90's Braves, but it could be worse.

And if Rios is moved to right, and De Aza is in centre then the only defenisve liabilities are really Viciedo and AJ/Flowers.

They just need to hit. The past two season's the hitting has been awful April, May and September.

True and with Walker gone, I really like the chances of them performing in those months.

Yeah, I'm w/ ya. That was a special team in '05 tho, and the specific amount of lolwut? took place for them to win it all. As of now, I'd struggle seeing how the Sox are that much more likely to win the WS than the Cubs, but some Cubs fans get bashed for thinking there's an outside shot of them making the playoffs this season.

Regardless, don't want to derail this thread into a cubs/white sox optimism comparison debate. Anything can happen.

I dont expect a playoff run for the sox.

the only hope which is not a whole lot to hold onto is the games are not won on paper. either way i think the sox finish 1,221,009th in the division.

I don't expect a playoff run either, but until the games are played, the Sox have just as good a chance as anybody else. They're all tied at 0-0 right now.
