Sox Drawer: The dangers of being 'All-In'

I like his way of thinking. I want a big year out of A.J.

I remember sitting at work hearing how we traded carlos lee for pods and Luis V and just stared thinking how bad 05 was going to be for us. That is the only hope I can hold onto at this point, which is really a whole lotta nothing.

Detroit is probably going to win the division. But, there is still hope because their rotation after Verlander is probably going to be atrocious. And their defense, minus Jackson in centre is going to be terrible, especially in the infield. However, their line up is incredibly good, and their bullpen is solid, although expect Valverde to regress a bit. So, even if Porcello gets lit up for 5 runs through 5 but they hold the lead because of their offense, their bullpen should hold them down. Although, if their bullpen is over worked because starters are getting yanked then maybe the bullpen will collapse (see: 2009 Sox).

Again, not saying Detroit doesn't win the division, but nothing is set in stone.

I hope and pray that Peavy, Humber, Floyd, Danks and Sale can replicate the pitching performances of the '05 season. If they can keep the team in games defensively, I'll like their chances much more this season.

If you really think about it, this year is a lot like 2005. So many questions, but if everyone clicks like they did that year, Sox can do something great.

Sox were picked to finish fourth in the division that year.
