If Jackson is flipped it means Hudson and another high-level Sox prospect have essentially been shipped off for Adam Dunn, which fills one spot in the lineup yet creates another hole in a starting rotation that is already less Jake Peavy and is starting to see Freddy Garcia get hit a ton. That's questionable at best.
And if the Sox are unable to to unload Jackson, that means the team traded away a salary-controlled pitching prospect for a guy that has had one dubiously solid season and is due more than $8 million next season. That's bad. |

Well that's all speculation at this point. Going off of the numbers (which are real and not speculative), Jackson is a sub-par pitcher making too much money. He isn't very good at controlling the things a pitcher has direct control of on the mound (K/BB rate, HR rate, etc), and has given no indication that he is improving in those areas.
