Just as an FYI the Lions are also moving Frank Ragnow, their first round pick last year, from G to C, which most people thought was his natural position. Same thing as Daniels, center is a lot for a rookie.

Even more so when you have an inexperienced QB.

Eventually, Trubisky will be heavily involved in the line calls and checks up front. Last season, he needed to be keeping his eyes on the coverage from the second they broke the huddle.

Pretty sure Whitehair was a T in college, who many projected as a G in the NFL. Then, he was forced into C duty, due to injuries to other OL, iirc. I think G is his natural position in the NFL and one many thought he'd move back to after the Bears drafted Daniels. Now that Daniels has a year under his belt within the offense, the Bears obviously feel this is best for all involved.

I think it solidifies what many thought last year after they drafted Daniels, he's a C and Whitehair is a G. Always nice to have multiple guys with the ability to play more than 1 position in case injuries happen.

He played both in college.....started at guard then moved to tackle.

Good to know. Point is he has the ability to play multiple positions in case of injury. Many analysts leading into his rookie season thought G was his best position in the NFL, even though he was a T his junior and senior year at KSU.

He probably played tackle in college because it was college. I suppose in an emergency he could play tackle, but he is not a real starting tackle in the pros.

The Bears intended to play Whitehair at LG when he was drafted. He moved to Center when Grasu was injured. Daniels was considered a top Center prospect last off- season. It makes perfect sense. This is Nagy and Harry making this move not the bozos that were here prior.

Grasu the gift that keeps on giving

I hope the people who are balking at this position change aren't the same people who thinks Coward's position change is a great idea.

I cant remember who the score had on talking about this at the end of the year but this statement stuck with me. “Whitehair could be a probowler at center but Dainels has the skills to be an All Pro at center for years to come.”

Seems like hyperbole to me but if that is what they are seeing then this move makes sense.

It was Olin Kruetz and I heard the same interview.

Sowell played more snaps at TE last season then he did at OT, so is it really a position switch?

Mizzell is just desperately trying to stick around.

Well my post didn't mention Sowell or Mizzell, so I'm not sure I understand what you're getting at. My overall point being, there are some in this thread who don't understand this position switch between Daniels and Whitehair, and I hope they aren't the same people who love the idea of Coward playing tackle.

oh my gosh.. I liked to watch Major Wright but he could never get it right with the Bears.

Will Sutton flashed on the AZ team in that other pro football league that already died. Wow I can't believe I already forget the name...

Centers a lot harder for a rookie to learn than left guard, or so I heard.
Yeah, thats why they moved Whitehair to center game 1 without playing the position during his first OTA or preseason.

Pretty simple to me, you just made two positions stronger on the offensive line. I would rather Whitehair kept moving out than back in. Right now you have pro bowl alternates at both positions, with the change, you have two pro bowlers that get there being voted in.

As far as Mizzell, I really do not get the move, he went from a crowded position to a overflowing position.

I appreciate what Howard did for the Bears. However, he wasn't too effective running between the tackles.
that was the only place he was effective. When they had him running the Cohen plays of sweeps is where he got caught early.

The crazy part about that list is I was optimistic about almost all of them. Just sad.

Maybe just start trading out of the round?
