Gus will be the odd man out.

We have 9 d- man. DeHann wont be ready till Nov/Dec.

This is what we have
Keith
Seabrookzival
Maataa
Murphy
DeHann
Gus
Joker
Dahlstrom
Koekkoek

Joker will probably start at the Rock.

I like Gus traded to Toronto for one of the depth forwards.

Can we trade Seabrookzival to the bench?

Then throw the bench into a dumpster fire?

Then throw the dumpster fire into a Volcano?

Then drop a nuke into the Volcano?

Q be like "He got a upper body injury"

They said they didn't want to trade Gus. But it looks like they should.

If Seabrooke has waived his NTC and the price is higher than moving 7 slots in the draft...god help us...but that would make two moves.

Maybe they will stack rockford with the youts

Somehow they ahve to find a way to get as much work for all of them as possible to try to generate any amount of trade value by the deadline.

might want to buy a row of Ice Hogs season tickets this year, and re-sell when they become good. They are probably going to have a good goalie and a good defense for starters. Might have Glass and Quiennville too.

Waste of money as they might not be able to ice a team come NHL trade deadline/playoffs. This is basically a contract year for Stan, so everything must go in a win it or he gone year.

I think Seabrook has a bounce back year with a better partner.

I'll believe that if he lost 25-40 lbs, or that partner was at least fast enough to cover his ass. Keith needs the same type of help though.

How fast is Byram? Joker? Bovquist? MItchel? Beudin?

If 2-3 of those guys are fast they might pair well in the future with what the HAwks have now. I guess Murphy will be the "speedster" to start the year.

I don’t think we are done trading. If this is truly Bowman’s last stand he’s going to go for broke

My sense as well. Bowman has that smile and is wheeling and dealing for his hockey life.

I wonder who they were targeting at 10? Glad they stayed and got Dach even if it eventually costs them another young defenseman + Gus + future firsts...

Start the season with the vets....especially that October schedule of death.

See what you have and showcase the group...see what you need and have a look behind closed doors at the kids.

Gonna probably be a full half-season of frequent moves to maximize this roster. Right now they have too much dead salary, too many kids that deserve a shot, and too many fringe veterans I'd rather not see anymore.

Clean some house and keep cleaning it Bowman!!

Hopefully Kubulic, Maata, DeHaan, Dach, Joker, Bovquist and a healthy Crow are enough to sniff some playoffs and get this ship sailing again.

and the continued development of Kampf, El Gato, Sikura, Joker, Bovquist, Baudin, Mitchell, Fortin, Glass, Martini

and additions of Dach, Kubilic, Maata, DeHaan

and potential health of Crawford. With real goalies developing behind him.

The team has improved...yes. The central is still a nasty prison fight.

Well you added the two I already listed and most expect Dach to be a year away. I hope not.

I read a few things, one writer thought Bovquist needs another year, the other was they can use the first 9 games to see if Kirby can stick. What I dont know is does the 9 game "tryout" have to be the first nine games of the season, or is that just what teams use to determine where they should be sending him?

It probably was more to dump the contract than it was targeting anyone specifically

But my guess it would have been pods or caufield based on bowman past picks. Although this draft was very unbowman like with all the big bodies

This is something I never really understood with Seabs....

He got slow and it hurt his game, badly.... he wasn't ever super fast, but fast enough to be a good D man.

But he seemed to stay pretty big, which I thought perhaps he wanted to stay big, and still be strong enough to clear bodies away from the net or still lay the hits on people.

But he doesn't do either of those things... most of the time, and we've never been the overly physical team.

It feels like he wants to keep trying to be big, strong, and fast enough to compete as a top 4 D man, but his body isn't capable of it and his mind has begun to slip as well.

I say pick a lane... ur a 6 now, just accept it and block shots and hit motherfuckers and rekt anyone who fucks around in front of the net.... be like Rozi and know ur lane and get back early and often.

Ego aside, it kills me when players like this do your scenario when they are signed long term. It's not like he's trying for his next contract. He gets paid either way so why not just be what you are and play the best you're able while enjoying the fuck out of your NTC.

What I dont understand with seabs is why is he still getting a tough guy reputation for hits he made in 2015. It makes perfects sense for him to start hitting more, because at least that way he is stopping someone from getting too far behind him.

last year they split them up and gave Seabs a runner and Keith a runner, but eventually, they always get paired up again. I just never want to see Seabrook on the power play again.

I don't think he is. I haven't seen anyone call him a tough guy or anything other than too slow in a long time. If he was living off the tough guy reputation they wouldn't feel the need to continue to add junk like Kunitz.

2. The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun reported Tuesday the Blackhawks’ offseason objective now that they’ve signed two defensemen is to find a forward or two who could help on faceoffs and the penalty kill. He also reported they have not contacted Lee’s camp and were likely aligning their cap space to pay for next offseason’s deals. LeBrun did mention Corey Perry as a possibility still.

General manager Stan Bowman was on 670 The Score on Tuesday and said he was searching for forwards who could help on the penalty kill and wanted players on one-year deals. That could mean signing someone to a one-year deal or trading for someone who has an expiring contract.

Perry doesn’t play much on the penalty kill, so he may not fit exactly what the Blackhawks are looking for. But if he’s cheap, maybe the Blackhawks consider him. Their fear has to be that his game has declined too much, and they’re in a similar situation to the last few years, when they had Patrick Sharp and Chris Kunitz in their lineup. It’s also possible signing someone like Perry could block the path for a young player.

4. The following players could make sense for the Blackhawks if they’re looking for a faceoff specialist with a short-term deal:

Jason Spezza was fifth in the NHL last season with a 58.20 faceoff percentage in 5-on-5 play. He won 401 faceoffs and lost 288. He didn’t take many shorthanded faceoffs last season. He’s a free agent.

Pierre-Edouard Bellemare was 11th with a 56.70 faceoff percentage. He won 313 faceoffs and lost 239. He had a 45.21 percentage on the penalty kill. He’s also an unrestricted free agent. He’s 34 and had a $1.45 million cap hit last season.

Brad Richardson was 15th with a 56.29 faceoff percentage. He won 443 faceoffs and lost 344. He had a 50.53 percentage on the penalty kill. He would require a trade. He has one year remaining with the Arizona Coyotes and has a $1.25 million cap hit.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau was 22nd with a 55.53 faceoff percentage. He won 206 faceoffs and lost 165. He had a 50.77 percentage on the penalty kill. He would also require a trade. He has a year remaining on his contract with the Ottawa Senators and has a $3.1 million cap hit.

Nate Thompson was 35th with a 54.66 faceoff percentage. He won 340 faceoffs and lost 282. He had a 51.38 percentage on the penalty kill. He would also need a trade. He has a year remaining with the Montreal Canadiens and has a $1 million cap hit.

Cody Eakin is another player entering the final year of his contract. He won 401-of-786 faceoffs for a 51.02 percentage last season. He had a 49.32 faceoff percentage on the penalty kill. He has a $3.85 million cap hit with the Vegas Golden Knights.

My colleague Mark Lazerus mentioned on Twitter he’s been hearing Ryan Carpenter is a possibility. He had a 53.05 faceoff percentage in 5-on-5 play last season. He won 139 faceoffs and lost 123. On the penalty kill, he wasn’t used regularly at the dot, but he won 15 faceoffs and lost 15. He is a free agent.
