It doesn't appear to make sense on the surface but it might if it works, if that makes any sense.

I guess it is official, at least according to Bleacher Nation. And apparently with the split minor league/major league deal he won't get paid, the real money at least, and take up a 40 man roster spot until he is ready to pitch again (end of 13 or 14).

I think Sully tweeted about it too. Beliveau was DFA to make room for Ian Stewart. I believe they have to DFA someone else whenever Nick Schierholtz is finalized (assuming that wasn't a bad leak like the Anibal Sanchez signing :cubstroll: )

Yeah the Cubs have to clear a spot for Schierholtz.
