Just finished season two

Going to probably watch the new season of dark on Netflix then wrap up deadwood. I have to say I really really like this show. I’m surprised with all the race stuff on hbo allot of this stuff doesn’t fly in modern times even if it’s depicting the past
Have you finished the series?

So I have re-watched all 3 seasons and have made an attempt to watch the movie twice.
I am about halfway through it.
I like the nostalgia. The modern cinematography is great too(opening scene with train) But I do feel the main storyline has died off enough that there is no thunder any longer.
George Hearst gained a ton of steam in season 3 and became the main focal point/villian but he left town and is really only the villian in the town of Deadwood.
I know the writing has to stay within the parameters of what was thought to have actually happened but for me, the story is dead....wood.
It is all nostalgia at this point and I find myself googling Hearst and Bullock to see if they jad any other adventures outside of Deadwood. And they did... It is a neat piece of history if you are in to the West.
Fun Fact- The Hearst fortune is still around and Georges great grandson is the benefactor. He is alive and well today at 70 yrs old. I wonder of the family protested the show and movie? Old George was quite the murderous asshole.

It really should have had a 4th season.

The seasons were great, the movie was a nice revisit.

How do you not know about the Hearst family? Patty Hearst not ring a bell? The bank robbing, movie star, terrorist, heir to the Hearst fortune?

Fun fact, Patty Hearst was in a movie with 80's porn star Tracy Lords.

Can't forget Patty.
But the show is about George. He is the OG with all the money. To be fair, his son William used that coin to start a publishing company and also maintain the fortune if not grow it. Patty is 65.

I would love for the show to spin off with Bullock or even Wyatt Earp(even though its been done) The west still has many stories to tell. It's a shame there was never a 4th season. It's about too late with this cast I think. Again, for me it was just nostalgic at best. The actual story was very anticlimactic for me. Hearst barely remembered all those Deadwood cocksuckers!

Ya, Deadwood was a good watch. Not significant storytelling, but entertaining.
