Anything under $14 million a year is going to look like a bargain if Butker keeps this up. I wonder how his biological mom feels right now. Forget Klay Thompson, but I guarantee Butler's agent is looking hard at Gordon Haywood and Chandler Parsons though.

I have a feeling he is going to demand big money next year and we wont be able to keep him, should have gave him what he wanted this season.

How many people want to admit they wanted to blow up the roster each of the last two off seasons and start over? And how many wanted to ship Butler anywhere for cap space? Well to me not going up as high as Jimmy wanted was probably some kind of insurance in case Rose went down again for another year. No point in signing him long term if Rose goes down and out again, just a big contract they couldn't trade easily while rebuilding.

Yeah now that Jimmy's made the improvement that was hoped for and might become the #2 option on offense ahead of Gasol. So you play out the season, see how Mirotic plays and maybe you can afford to trade Gibson. McDermott looks like he could start next year at the 3 so you're saving Dunleavy's money. Does Snell play well enough that you want him to backup at the 2 and 3, will he be good enough to get rid of Hinrich or do you trade Snell?

It's all about having the options available, see how things work out and who you want to keep and who you want to trade for picks or to move up in the draft again. That's why you stockpile talent and bank on some potential coming through.

nobody wanted to ship Butler for cap space...he only cost 1.5m

also i don't think anybody truly wanted to "blow up" the roster last year

most ppl just wanted to tank and get a top pick

More and more it looks like trading up to get McDermott and drafting Mirotic when they did looks genius to me. Imagine if we luck out and get the Kings pick next year. That team is off to a good start. I also think that down the road, the big Aussie will also pay dividends.

I don't see them as the best because of Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry.

This whole "Butler is not a guard" thing is old...he can play SG and SF. Not out of position.

Bravo! Yes, the 'Jimmy is a SF' is oooooooold! I don't want to hear that anymore. I never thought that btw. Personally, I think SA and GS have the two best backcourts right now. I just think Rose's quickness/defense, and Jimmy's strength/defense could top the other two. Although Curry has been playing great defense as of last.

12 points on 7 shots (uber efficient) shooting 57% 6 boards, 7 dimes, 4 steals.

Should have paid him the 12 mil

The Bulls really fucked up not extending Jimmy. He is going to be one of the premier 2 guards of this league, and will most likely make the All-Star team this season.
