I'll say it now. Underwood is going to throw some sort of crazy good game tonight because the cubs got swept by the reds and it's the most unexpected outcome. Baseball is funny like that.

Wow I had no idea Underwood was called up. Watched him at Tenn a couple times, kid has a strong arm, but he was always getting hit. They weren't hard hits, but those ones that always seem to have eyes. I hope he does great tonight.

He shifted into a cutter pitcher in his readjustment. I’m not expecting much here. He has a SP arsonel but has not put together a solid campaign yet.

I wonder if anyone keeps stats for that, seems like that happens to Cub pitchers a lot.

I hope the kid can go 5. Rought
1st inning, and Herendez got him. Other than that looks promising

Hand it to the kid
Threw everything and the kitchen sink to get out of the first and has bounced back pretty good the next 3..

Now maybe the bats can get him a couple runs

And he's averaged 12 pitches per inning over the next three innings -- including facing the extra batter in the second, when he gave up the solo shot.

It was the kid's first big league inning. Gotta cut him a little slack... besides, looks like he may give us five innings or more tonight.

Pulled Underwood to soon. Should have at least let him get 5

Agreed. I would have let Underwood bat, with two out and no one in scoring position. Save La Stella for a higher impact pinch-hit opportunity.

We score a lot in some games, as guys are loose when we’re up.

When we need to manufacture a run, we are awful.

In a game with an emergency starter and a roughed up pen, we fail to score. Again. For the umpteenth time.

Not did that matter much, as usual the Cubs can't hit!

41 pitches in the first sealed his fate.

Also I see it as Joe didn't want the Dodgers to lock in on him. He had a nice curve/change mix with a fastball spotted in. But pushing him further could have been bad in his first ML outing.
