Yu today was the most impressive I have seen him as a Cub. He got some bad luck with ground balls finding a hole. He gave us 7 innings and kept the lead. He did his job. He had some hangers today that got smoked, but he kept the lead.

Well, I will say his last three (or 3 of 4) have been vastly better than prior. But we blamed bad luck last time and lost a game in which we scored 5 or more.

"Did his job" with 5 runs in 7 innings? Well.....he didn't do it well. But taking innings from the pen right now is a big help.

And just as I type that it helps to keep the relievers away, the FIRST batter they face homers.
JFC

Edit: My mistake. I didn't realize Yu was still in. So.....21 outs and 6 (or more) runs, and that's considered a good day.

Well, that's what happens when you literally cant trust anyone in the bullpen.

I dont get bringing him back out for the 8th. I know the bullpen has been spent, but now the game is tied and now we may go extras.

No idea why they try to get innings out of Ryan....guy should just be a situational lefty.

I don't know what Danny Jackson's uniform number was, but Yu should wear it.

It's a no-win situation for him there.

Joe now needs to get the same number of outs from the bullpen, but we gave then the tying run and a base runner first.

You mean Edwin? Danny actually got CY votes a couple times.

On a pitch that makes the count 0-2, we throw out the base runner, and then throw 4 straight balls to give them a runner right back.

THROW STRIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not going to sit here and say Darvish was great today but I do see today as progress. His 44.4% ground ball rate and .375 BABIP are positive signs beyond the obvious low walk rate. I suspect he's still not where he wants to be command wise hence the hits but the fact he's not walking guys is progress.

I am so tired of these kids that can't throw strikes....they work their ass off to get here then get sent right back because they walk everyone. What the hell are they taught in the minors?

Danny Jackson was the worst performing FA acquisition ever by the Cubs.

I would take Edwin Jackson, Percy Jackson or Glenda Jackson over Danny Jackson ANY day.

He was a pussy.

I LOVE that the John Caponera CD with his Harry Caray routine includes "Harry" dissing on Danny Jackson. It absolutely makes it perfect!

"He ought to wear a ski mask and hold a gun when he collects his check, cuz all he's doing is ripping the team off!" :)

Apparently that you don't need to throw strikes to be called up to work out of this bullpen.

Can we please get these guys home?

I am not up for another blown one run lead. Let's get the two base runners in and see if that will do.

(Hurry back, Pedro.)

Different game today. You're taught you get to the majors with K's. That leads to two things. One is guys throwing max effort to get velocity. The other is you're less likely to be challenging guys in the zone compared to your prototypical junk baller a la kintzler.
