Anyone hear who's warming up? I go with Edwards. I mean he's gonna have to step up sometime if this team wants to win anything.

Big DP! One more! Rizzo is a stud defensive first baseman. So sound.

Big win....but I really hope they don't see Chatwood as a closer.

That DP saved Chatwoods ass. That said, I really like Chatwood being able to come in any time and provide innings. He is more Montgomery now than Montgomery.

Yu today was the most impressive I have seen him as a Cub. He got some bad luck with ground balls finding a hole. He gave us 7 innings and kept the lead. He did his job. He had some hangers today that got smoked, but he kept the lead.

Seems like he is progressively getting his Mojo back.

Puig then flew out to right to seal the win and the first save for Chatwood in a Cubs uniform. As Chicago continues to battle bullpen issues, Chatwood said he would not mind more opportunities like that one.
"Yeah, it was a cool feeling," said the pitcher. "If I get to do it more, cool. Like I said, as long as I'm helping us win, that's all I want to do."

As long as he is firing strikes it makes a interesting solution. Paycheck wise he is getting paid closer wages.

What he has going for himself is a ability to generate ground balls when needed. 54.1 GB% And he has a LOB% of 89.5% which leads the bull pen.

So I know that Joe wants it to be him.

If he is the best man for the job, fine. If not, fine.

But at no time should a manager ever make a decision on who should be in what role based on their salary.

Weighing back in on Darvish. 6 runs in 7+ is hardly great, stat-wise. But I do agree with those saying his effort was huge, and putting less on the pen was a big plus.

I admit, I picked on him a bit for giving up the tying run and then allowing a base runner before turning it over to the pen, but I do appreciate that, unlike last year, he wanted the ball. He wanted to continue. He ate innings.

His outings are more positive with each start.

I'm pretty sure that it would be ideal. Strop hits F/A. Morrow they don't pick his opt. Chatwood becomes the closer with Maples and Edwards as his set ups. Then they allocate resources into lefties and middle relief.
